Challenge Champ
Entry fee for this round.
This challenge only takes place during the final round.
The difference between the defending champ & challenge champ is this:
- Defending Champ awards the champ title per category/section division for example Street1 Solo Champ Teen/Adult
-Challenge Champ awards the champ title overall for example, best solo dancer overall, best couple overall, best trio overall
-Challenge Champ has categories that are nomination based, and nominations are based on entertainment value, regardless of the marks received.
-Procedures work differently. See below.
Dress Code:
Competitors dress according to their highest title for example: if you're highest title is advanced, you dress accordingly. The only challenge sections which excludes all title rules are the miss danza, champ of champs and entertainment champ sections.
CHALLENGE CHAMP
Challenge champ awards competitors with the overall champ title.
It also works differently than the defending champ heat. Below we explain the procedure for each challenge champ section.
Pre-selected tracks will be e-mailed to you, except for the champ of champs section, where you will receive your cd at the semi-final.
Dress Code: as above
Music: explained under each section
Tricks: there is no trick limitations on challenge champ sections. Anything goes!
Awards: Finalist badge per entry, 2nd & 3rd receive medals, 1st receives Cash Prize, and a placement certificate per entry
Champ of champs: all will receive a trophy, badge & placement certificates
Invitations: Same as defending champ
SOLO, COUPLE, TRIO, TEAM CHAMP
x3 selected per division for solo, couples, trio and team. Any style/category can be used for this routine.
During this section, all competitors will compete at the same time. All three competitors are called to the floor. Your choreography has to be of such a nature that you move around the floor. Judges rotate on the dance floor, looking for the dancer/dancers that catches their eye. The more you move, the more you will be seen.
Music for this heat:
3 tracks will be available. An audience member will be invited to draw a track number and all competitors will dance to the same track. This can be music from any genre, so be prepared for anything.
ENTERTAINMENT CHAMP
x5 overall competitors are selected based on entertainment value. Categories, sections and division do not apply.
Entertainment choreography is based on a pre-selected theme. Again, an audience member will be chosen to draw a theme at the semi-finals. All competitors will have to choreograph according to this theme, but may select their own music. Music must be booked in advance, on a first come first serve basis. If a track is booked, no other competitor may use the same track for this section.
Music: To be booked in advance as explained above
MR. & MISS DANZA
x3 Female & 3 Male dancers selected per division.
Again, anything goes. Here you do whatever it takes. Competitors will perform one by
one.
Music: Own choice. To be submitted 2 weeks prior to competition
Outfit: No rules. Except that it must be tasteful.
CHAMP OF CHAMPS
Selection based on the competitors who rank top 6 on the overall ranking at the end of the semi-finals.
6 CD’S will be pre-cut. Music will be a mix of 3 tracks of different genres. At the semi-final, each competitor will be called onto the stage, their order of selection drawn by the an audience member, as well as the draw of the number of a cd. CD with the mixed track will then be given to each competitor. This is the best of Champ Titles, and during this section, we want you to prove that you deserve to be the king/queen of DANZA by showing us how you can adapt to any style.
